ABOUT

Timu Foundation is a universal story of normal citizens looking to create change in their community based on their experiences. Our stories connected in the city of Long Beach where a teacher, Connie Granieri, outperformed her duties as a leader and inspired her students to dream big. In result, John and Amanda Timu, would create a new cycle in the family that defies any doubts and a story worth telling. John’s story would take him to the University of Washington for a football scholarship, which led him to an opportunity to play in the NFL for the Chicago Bears for 3 years. Amanda’s story would continue on to the military, serving in the US Navy for nearly 11 years. Our stories are diverse but in it there’s life lessons of self discovery, resiliency, and sacrifice.

In our community, we hear the heartbreaking stories of loved ones that fall short due to gang violence, drugs, and alcohol. However, our stories are a testament to the beauty of our city that represents hope, perseverance, and fulfillment. The best part is… we find inspiration in our mistakes and imperfection. Our dream is that we can be a beacon of light to someone in need. Timu Foundation is a story dedicated to all who just need a chance … may we meet soon!
